Welcome to SMLCA! I’m glad you stopped by to check us out. This website is designed to give you a taste of Osprey Nation. If you would like a closer look, please message me.

The willingness to learn is essential in life. The failure to be humble enough to sense improvement is necessary, is the first step in defeat. I have been a student all my life, but not always with the ideal amount of zeal. As I studied the educational process, as a student, parent, teacher, and now as an administrator, my perspective may have shifted, but the end goals have always been the same. At Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, we attempt daily to meet each of these seasons with that same high level of attention and promise.

Students should be seen as the individuals they are, created in God’s image with a unique plan for their life, not as a number or handled in a cookie-cutter fashion.

Parents should be offered the most cost-effective educational product available, while not compromising on the safety, academic rigor, and preparation their students deserve.

Teachers and coaches should be unleashed to allow their God-given abilities and passion for their Creator, their students, and their subject to flourish in the classroom, on the stage, and on the court or field.

Administrators should be encouraged to dream dreams for all the above positions that enable each to reach for the stars. Leaders should facilitate seamless connectivity between each level so that all sense the oneness of the Holy Trinity.

SMLCA strives to provide an atmosphere that encourages each member of Osprey Nation to grow in their walk with Christ and their fellow man. Our desire as a school is to never settle. Okay is not okay. Good is the enemy of great. We were designed for more. Our living curriculum (teachers and staff) is hired with this in mind. We chose our academic path with this perspective. Our programs, whether in the arts, athletics, or academics, are prayerfully considered with this end in mind.

Each of our students is fearfully and wonderfully made. They will each walk different paths, but we do have a few things in common. We should all be persons of integrity, patriotic, hard workers, and always striving to make those around us have better lives because of our self-awareness.  Developing community-minded citizens is a target we aim for daily.

We are seeking to provide an education that prepares our students for the real world. Our goal is to help students see how their time here is helping them build a better tomorrow, not only for themselves but for every person that crosses their path. The chapel services, small group settings, youth retreats, and Spiritual Emphasis events are geared to help us all understand that this life is not all there is. Shaping our student’s worldview is an intentional part of our plan. At SMLCA, we have the opportunity to work with the whole person. We get to address the issues of the soul, heart, mind, and strength. That is why preparing students for today, tomorrow, and eternity is our motto. Wow! What a privilege to be able to partner with you in helping your student be all they were created to be.

As I have watched us grow as a school, I have been pleased with the improvements made. My desire however to see us continue to grow is stronger now than ever. As a school, we will never settle. The students and families we serve demand our eternal vigilance.

SMLCA is an amazing place. I invite you to experience it for yourself and your family. Please call our office today to schedule a visit. Walk the halls, sit in on a class, listen to the conversations of our students and faculty, and I believe you will recognize what gives us our flavor and makes us a great choice for your children and your family.

“Making the future brighter one student at a time.”
